Capela do Senhor da Pedra
The Senhor da Pedra Chapel, built on a rock, with a hexagonal plan, may date back to the 17th century. It is believed that its origins were an ancient pagan cult, having been later converted to Christianity.
Inside it has a main altar, two lateral gilded altarpieces in baroque/rococo style, highlighting the image of the Lord of the Stone – a Crucified Christ.
The popular cult of Senhor da Pedra is manifested through the Holy Trinity Sunday Pilgrimage, considered one of the largest and most charismatic in the municipality, which takes place on the Sunday before the celebration of Corpus Christi Day.

Espinho
Espinho is located in the backbone of the great Lisbon-Porto railway line.
It has 8 km of beaches, several distinguished with Blue Flag. An immense sea surrounding the extensive sands is cut by breakwaters that make it suitable for bathing areas, but it also has waves appropriate to water sports such as surfing or bodyboarding. Therefore, the tranquility of an isolated beach is opposed to the action of another, where you can even watch a game of beach volleyball or spend some time in a lively bar.
Famous Espinho Market represents an important local attraction for the variety of sold products and direct transactions between the producer and the consumer. Open every Monday, today is one of the largest weekly markets in the country as well of the Iberian Peninsula.

Espinho is a cheerful city designed with wide streets cut into symmetrical squares; however, beyond what you may imagine, it will be more useful to follow this advice: visit this pleasant city to judge it for yourself!

Igreja Matriz de Cortegaça
Considered a complex of public interest in 2013, the current church was built between 1910 and 1918. The façade, which stands out due to its height, is accompanied by two bell towers and is entirely covered in tiles. This classification also includes the tombs of the Old Cemetery.

Igreja Matriz de Santa Maria de Válega
The current building began to be constructed in 1746 and the work took more than a century to complete. The church is wide and elevated with the bell tower integrated into the facade. The front is completely covered in polychromatic tiles from the Aleluia factory, placed in 1960, with figurative themes of biblical origin. The interior, also covered with polychrome tiles, has ceilings covered with exotic wood, donated in the mid-20th century by the Lopes Family. The stained glass windows, designed in Madrid, were a gift from Commander António Augusto da Silva, dating back to the 60s of the 20th century.

Aveiro
The eternal “Portuguese Venice”, the light-bathed city of Aveiro was recently elected by The Guardian readers as “the most romantic city in Europe”. Embraced by the Aveiro Lagoon – Ria de Aveiro – Aveiro can be discovered by boat, on foot or by bike, riding one of the several free bikes of the city, the BUGA. Aveiro bursts with colour and joie de vivre!
Saramago brilliantly described Ria de Aveiro as “a living body that connects the land to the sea like a huge heart.” In fact, Aveiro Lagoon is the central element of the city’s identity. It defines the pace of the city, filling it with all the colours of the typical “moliceiros”, boats that were used in the past to transport sea weed to fertilise the agricultural lands. Nowadays, these boats are a true tourism icon of Aveiro, transporting the city visitors on unforgettable trips.

Costa Nova and Barra
This is definitely one of the most iconic beaches of Center of Portugal. Famous for its colourful striped house that were in the past the warehouses of the fishermen, the beach of Costa Nova is just like a postcard. Often the perfect setting for an Instagram post! This beach has some pleasant restaurants along the sea front. The sand area is quite vast, ensuring pleasant moments of relaxation. You can walk to Barra beach, iconic for its amazing lighthouse.
Right next to it, at Barra beach, you will find the dominant and imposing Barra Light, the highest lighthouse in Portugal.
The Bussaco Palace
Located directly north of Coimbra, the Bussaco Palace is idyllically perched high on a hill in the heart of the Bussaco Woods, a 250 acres of lush forest planted by the Barefoot Carmelites in the 17th century and one of the most spectacular Portuguese landscapes. Resplendent in its overwhelming Manueline-gothic architecture, this legendary castle was built between 1888 and 1912 for the last Kings of Portugal and converted into a deluxe hotel in 1917.
Inside, there are remarkable works of art by great Portuguese masters of the time, from the collection of tile panels by master Jorge Colaço, evoking The Lusiads, Gil Vicente’s plays and the Peninsular War, graceful sculptures by António Gonçalves and Costa Mota, canvasses by João Vaz illustrating verses from the maritime epic by Luís Vaz de Camões, frescoes by António Ramalho and paintings by Carlos Reis.
A true fairy tale palace at the heart of an enchanted forest!

Mosteiro da Batalha UNESCO World Heritage
Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória (or Monastery of Batalha) On 14 August 1385, close to the site of the monastery at Batalha, an event took place that was to prove decisive for the consolidation of the Portuguese nation.
D. João, the Master of Avis and the future King of Portugal, defeated the Castilian army at the Battle of Aljubarrota. This victory brought an end to a dynastic crisis that had dragged on since 1383, when the King D. Fernando had died. His only daughter was married to the King of Castile, who laid claim to the throne of Portugal.
D. João dedicated the monastery to the Virgin Mary, whom he had called upon to beseech God to grant him victory.

Nazaré
The once fishing village of Nazaré, a very popular beach resort in Portugal, became a worldwide phenomenon after the McNamara effect. On November 1st 2011, the Hawaiian surfer Garrett McNamara surfed a 78 feet (23,77 meters) wave during the ZON North Canyon Show in Praia do Norte beach, in Nazaré!
The big wave season begins in November and ends in February. Since then, Nazaré – or as the surfers call it, “Naza” – has caught the world’s attention. But Nazaré is more than its incredibly big waves. It is a deeply fascinating destination with countless secrets to unveil.

Óbidos
The enchanting Medieval village of Óbidos, encircled by walls, will amaze you with its endless beauty. This is why until 1883 Óbidos was exclusive property of the Queens of Portugal. A UNESCO Creative City, Óbidos is a paradise for book lovers from all over the globe. A literary town embellished by bougainvilleas, winding streets and colourful houses. Sweet like chocolate!
Encircled by a ring of medieval walls and crowned by the Moorish castle rebuilt by D. Dinis, which is now a pousada, Óbidos is one of the most perfect examples of our medieval fortress. As in olden times, the town is entered through the southern gate of Santa Maria, embellished with eighteenth-century azulejo decoration.
